Icky doesn’t possess any superhuman abilities per se, she’s just smart as all get out. That, combined with her inquisitive mind, has resulted in a surplus of gadgets and weaponry she and the Freedom Society can use in their everlasting fight against Bad Bart and his goons.
History + Origin
Born to Henry and Ruth Speltzer, Marjorie took interest in Greek tales and tinkering with household items at a young age. Despite growing up in a working class household that lived solely off her father’s meager income as a bricklayer, Marge was always one of the brightest of her class — in fact, it wasn’t even close.
As a result of her near-photographic memory, Marge already had two degrees by the time she finished high school. Four years later, she had earned Ph.D.s in engineering, mathematics, and physics.
By 1917, Speltzer found herself on the board of Crumon- Davis — the predecessor to today’s CruCorp — thanks in part to her robust inventing career. In fact, she still holds the record for most patents registered. Even though she’s been gone for half a century, Speltzer’s estate owns the rights to 7,392 patents.
Though most others of her intellect and inventiveness used their abilities for personal gain, Marge used her’s for good, choosing to moonlight as a super heroine.
Soon after hitting the streets to fight crime, Marge adopted the code name Icky, a nod to the tale of Icarus, a constant reminder to herself to never go too far with her craft.
During the earliest days of Prohibition, Icky fought numerous thugs and juice runners on behalf of the United States government. Her group, the Freedom Society, also included Hypknot, Miss Astounding, and Doc Decker.
